Alerting and Notification

  • The emailgtw Probe (E-mail Gateway)
  • This short training session provides an overview of the CA Nimsoft emailgtw (E-Mail Gateway Probe).

    The "emailgtw" probe allows NMS users to receive notification of desired CA Nimsoft alarms via e-mail messages. This probe is a must have - as most users do not want to have to be viewing a computer screen to know when something is wrong. With the emailgtw probe - users can conveniently receive the desired alarm info via their e-mail accounts (and PDA's, etc.).

    This video also provides a short overview of event correlation capabilities within NMS.

  • This short training session on the NMS azure probe will walk you through the probe functionality and how to best monitor your systems that are running in Azure.

  • This short training session provides an overview of the CA Nimsoft NMS "cisco_monitor" probe. This probe leverages SNMP in order to provide you with proactive monitoring and performance management for Cisco devices - including metrics such as CPU, fan/power status and memory consumption.  (more)
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • This short training session on the NMS cisco_ucm probe will explain the basics on how to monitor your Cisco UCM environment. The cisco_ucm leverages the Cisco AXL web services API to remotely/agentlessly connect to your Cisco VoIP/UCM systems. Using java and web services - the probe will allow a UCM administrator to monitor + collect desired performance information for your Cisco VoIP infrastructure.

    The cisco_ucm probe provides system administrators with an automated means to watch critical VoIP metrics. Additionally - important metrics can be presented within CA Nimsoft dashboards and reports.

  • Cisco Unified Computing Systems
  • This short training session on the NMS cisco_ucs probe will explain the basics on how to monitor your Cisco UCS environment. Please note that this probe is appropriate for customers that have standalone UCS systems as well as customers that are leveraging Vblock environments (which includes UCS).

    The cisco_ucs probe leverages Cisco APIs to remotely/agentlessly connect to and monitor your Cisco UCS environments. The probe will allow a UCMS administrator to monitor important metrics related to the environmental (i.e. fans/power), fabric interconnects, storage, servers and more.

    The cisco_ucs probe provides system administrators with an automated means to watch critical UCS metrics. Additionally - important metrics can be presented within CA Nimsoft dashboards and reports.

  • Bandwidth monitoring
  • This short training session on the NMS interface_traffic probe will walk you through some tips and tricks on how to configure this probe for maximum benefit.

    The interface_traffic probe is specifically designed to monitor and collect performance metrics from critical interfaces on any SNMP enabled device - allowing you to proactively understand bandwidth consumption and packet rates on these interfaces.

  • Ping/ICMP availability monitoring
  • This short training session on the NMS net_connect probe will walk you through some tips and tricks on how to configure the probe for maximum benefit.

    The net_connect probe is specifically designed to monitor IP availability for any IP enabled device utilizing ICMP (ping) tests. The probe is also able to monitor any TCP/IP ports to ensure that critical applications are listening and responding as desired.

  • RCA & Topology Manager
  • This short video of the CA Nimsoft RCA & Topology Manager demonstrates how the solution generates network topology maps and root cause alarms.

    RCA &Topology Manager automatically discovers any IP device and maps out the relationships and dependencies within your network environment. Intelligent Root Cause Analysis is then based on these Layer 2 Topology Relationships.

    Sympathetic alarms will be suppressed so operators only have to deal with events that need action.

  • This short training session provides an overview of the NMS "snmpget" probe.

    This probe leverages SNMP in order to provide you with proactive monitoring and performance management for any SNMP compliant device. In the event that you have custom SNMP information that you wish to monitor and trend against - the snmpget probe provides a fast + easy way to quickly monitor any OID.

    The snmpget probe also allows you to easily import any 3rd party MIB for fast monitoring support of your important SNMP devices.

  • This short welcome video summaries the CA Nimsoft On Demand service offering. A brief description of the architecture and data flow is described.
  • How to Install the CA Nimsoft Relay
  • This video will show you how to access the CA Nimsoft On Demand Relay installation package - and provides instructions on how to install the relay.

    The relay is the small software module that will sit inside your firewall - and securely communicate back your CA Nimsoft On Demand instance over an SSL tunnel.

  • Discovering your servers and network devices
  • This training video will walk you through the steps required to configure your CA Nimsoft On Demand discovery parameters.

    Within this training video, you will learn how to configure the IP ranges ("scopes") that will be queried by the discovery process.

    You will also learn how to set the various credentials that will be used to authenticate with the devices found during discovery - in order to gain deeper monitoring insight into your servers and SNMP enabled network devices.

    The discovery process provides you with a quick and accurate means to populate the key agentless probes within NMS - including net_connect, rsp, cisco_monitor and interface_traffic.

  • This short training session on the NMS hyperv probe will walk you through some tips and tricks on how to configure this Microsoft Hyper-V focused monitoring module.

    The hyperv probe will allow you to monitor your Microsoft Hyper-V servers and all of your VM's running on those systems in an agentless manner. The hyperv probe leverages Microsoft's APIs to provide you with a robust set of performance + availability metrics that will help you maximize your Hyper-V investment.

  • This short training session on the NMS vmware probe will walk you through some tips and tricks on how to configure this VMWare focused monitoring solution.

    The vmware probe will allow you to monitor your ESX servers and all of your VM's running on those systems in an agentless manner. The vmware probe leverages VMWare's VI3 and vSphere APIs to provide you with a robust set of performance + availability metrics that will help you maximize your VMWare investment.
